Courses

Whatever your level of ability we can work with you to provide some tuition to build on the skills you already have, whether it's learning how to go through a lock safely or help getting in and out of your mooring. New boat and want some one with you when you first take it out? No problem. We can help with most boating scenarios from small day boats up to large river cruisers and narrow (and wide beam) boats too!

Working with our partners Ouse on Board we can provide RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman Certificate training on your own boat.  Starting with basic rope work and moving onto boat handling then finishing with some techniques for solo boaters we cover a variety of skills and subjects. There is usually a minimum of two people for this and its is carried out over two days. If you don't have your own boat, Ouse on Board run courses on their narrowboat three to four times a year. 

Do you want to understand your engine a little more? Perhaps you are planning on a long summer cruise and want to do some of the basic maintenance yourself or be prepared in case of any breakdowns. We offer a one day RYA* diesel engine course covering engine theory, some of the basics such as oil and filter changes, alternator belt adjustment and replacement, as well as daily and weekly tasks. All carried out on our training engine in our small workshop (so you don't need to climb down into a cramped engine bay). *Certification is carried out by our partners Ouse on Board
